This morning at cafe church we spent time praying through the Lord's Prayer in groups, pausing after each phrase to elaborate with our own prayers.
We then jumped into the story of Joseph, he of the technicolour dreamcoat fame. It was a familiar story for many of us, so we were set a challenge of getting the events of his story in the right order, before thinking about which were highs and which were lows.
This was our finished timeline, showing the highs and lows (and neutrals) of Joseph's life.
We heard 'A Poem for Joseph and His Brothers' by Carol Penner, and then we talked about our responses to Joseph's story. We also got creative, decorating Joseph's special robe, and shaping pipe cleaners to reflect our own highs and lows, with a bead to move along them and remind us that God is with us in the good and the bad.
Joseph's multicoloured coat and a 'highs and lows' pipe cleaner wrist band.
